Kings Burning Question: Can Domantas Sabonis keep dominating?

There’s an obvious answer we all hope should be applied here. Yes, obviously Kings fans want Domantas Sabonis to continue playing at a superb level. He has more often than not been the best player on the court for the Kings this season and with or without Fox available, Mike Brown will rely heavily on Sabonis to keep this team going.

He has always been extremely talented on the offensive end of the court. His playmaking and ability to facilitate in the half-court are rare in players of his size. He also has a knack for cleaning the glass. He’s far and away the best rebounder the Kings have in their current rotation. Rounding it out with his smooth and well-rounded scoring game, Sabonis has always been capable of being a nightmare for opponents.

He often has been a nightmare for opponents in his NBA career. His recent stretch has been at an even higher level as the Kings have been riding his dominance to victories more often than not.

Sabonis is the only true big man in the lineup and has answered the bell against recent opponents with much more size. Think about the combinations of bigs he has gone up against just in the last two games now. First was Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez, followed by Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.

Against the Bucks, Sabonis shot 9-11 from the field and finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. He followed that effort up with a monster game against the Cavaliers, going for 18 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists.

It must be exhausting. Over the course of the season, Sabonis will naturally get fatigued to some level if he keeps being asked to do this job and keeps doing it so well. Later in the season the Kings might be able to add some depth behind him that can also play alongside him when needed, but for now, the Kings are going to need their big man to continue dominating night in and night out.
