Jared Rhoden

Jared Rhoden is a 22 year old shooting guard/small forward who stands at 6’5 with a 6’10 wingspan. Last season at Seton Hall he averaged 15.5 pts, 6.7 rebs, and 1.2 stls a game.

Two very good breakdowns of Rhoden’s strengths and weaknesses can be found here and here.

While he didn’t shoot well at the combine, Rhoden did show that he can bring value even when his shot isn’t falling. In his first scrimmage, he went 3 for 11 from the field, but he had 6 rebs, 2 stls, and 2 blks. In his second scrimmage, he went 3 for 9 from the field but had 8 rebs, 4 asts, and 2 stls.

Rhoden is a solid scorer, but he needs to be more efficient. Inconsistency is what is holding him back from reaching his potential. He has decent size and is a willing defender. Some mock drafts have him going undrafted, and I think that is understandable.

He is an older prospect and many younger prospects are further along in their development. I do believe he can find a place in the NBA as a spot up shooter and capable defender. He has to put in the work, but even for an older prospect, there is potential.

If you want to watch Rhoden, I suggest watching Seton Hall vs Ohio State.

Rhoden had a fantastic game against Ohio State early last season (you can watch the game here). He dropped 29 pts, 5 rebs, 1 stl, and 1 blk. He went 8 for 15 from the field and 2 for 5 from behind the arc.

Against Ohio State’s two first round picks in E.J. Liddell and Malaki Branham, Rhoden looked like arguably the best  player on the floor.
