New York Knicks get De’Aaron Fox

After catching the league by surprise last season, the Knicks quickly fell back into reality in 2021-22 and sit 11th in the Eastern Conference at this moment. While they have tried to win with their young talent this season, they clearly need another game-changer to get them over the hump.

Kemba Walker has had his moments but they are far too rare this season to justify a lack of aggressiveness in finding a new point guard. New York has already been busy in the trade space, picking up Cam Reddish from the Hawks a few weeks back to add to their depth on the wing.

Adding Fox to the core of R.J. Barrett, Julius Randle, and Cam Reddish would give the Knicks a nice pairing of youth and experience with a lot of athleticism across the roster. The assets to acquire Fox would likely include Obi Toppin, first-round picks, or Immanuel Quickley, which may be tough to sell the Knicks on, but it would get them back into the mix out East.

Sacramento can stock up on future picks or young assets to kickstart the next rebuild around Haliburton and Mitchell while clearing up some minutes in the backcourt for the youngsters.

There will be better suitors and offers out there for Fox when the time comes but the Knicks are a team that can offer the big market appeal and competitive roster to entice Fox to stay. It really just comes down to the assets that the Knicks are willing to part with to acquire Fox at this stage in his career.
