Harry Giles – Soccer (Goalie)

We’re going with another soccer reference here, but this one just fits well.

There are a handful of players on the Kings roster that would excel playing goalie for a soccer team, including Marvin Bagley and Alex Len due to their length and long limbs. But it is Harry Giles that we would select to be our last line of defense.

Yes, Giles struggles defensively in the NBA. He ranks in the bottom 2% in the league in opponent field goal percentage around the basket, and the Kings as a team at their worst defensively when Giles is on the floor.

But playing goalie would be different. He would use his slender frame and leaping ability to defend the entirety of the net and bring plenty of energy while doing so. We know about his large hands, which would only be made bigger and more effective by sticky goalie gloves. Giles could also use his court vision to be able to scan the soccer field and quarterback his defense.

We’re not sure what Giles’ soccer skill set is like or if he has ever kicked one in his life, but we know that he can catch a ball and block his opponents shots.
