Dallas Mavericks

One of the more obvious choices here is the Dallas Mavericks. The Kings had a rivalry of sorts with Dallas back in the Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash days, and it could return if Sacramento is able to eventually get in to the playoffs. Both the Kings and Mavericks have budding stars in their back court who could become adversaries for years to come.

Not only might both teams have their stars peaking at the same time, but there will always be the underlying story of the Kings selecting Marvin Bagley over Luka Doncic. As much as Bagley tries to distance himself from the analysis of the 2018 Draft, the stigma will unfortunately follow him throughout his career. Doncic’s ascent to the top of the league combined with Bagley’s inability to even stay on the floor has been a sore subject to say the least, but maybe Bagley can use the situation as motivation to become the star he is capable of becoming.

Doncic and De’Aaron Fox have had a couple of hard fought battles already in their young careers. Those battles will be amplified should they meet under the bright lights of the NBA playoffs.
