Sacramento Kings: Cory Joseph Joins COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Sacramento Kings point guard Cory Joseph has joined in the COVID-19 relief efforts by making a donation to his native Canada.

Amidst the COVID-19 epidemic, there have been overwhelming acts of generosity displayed by celebrities, athletes, and every day people that give hope to the situation and to humanity in general. The Sacramento Kings organization and their players have been doing what they can to give back to their communities, and now point guard Cory Joseph is chipping in.

In a press release that came out on Wednesday, the Kings announced that Joseph is lending a helping hand to his native Canada. Through Operation Canadian Shield, Joseph and his family are donating face shields to hospital workers on the front lines in his native city of Toronto, Ontario. The efforts are also being contributed to by Kings assistant coach and fellow Canadian Roy Rana.

A quote from Joseph in the release:

"“It is heartbreaking to witness the effects of this pandemic around the world, so I wanted to do my part to help where I grew up. The courageous work of the hospital community is admirable, and it is important to help protect them. I look forward to providing support in Toronto along with upcoming community efforts throughout Canada and Sacramento as we fight this virus together.”"

Joseph’s generosity comes a week after his teammates Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nemanja Bjelica made a sizable donation to their native Serbia. The organization itself has done its part as well, by donating $250,000 and 100,000 masks to local relief efforts and the usage of the old ARCO Arena as a surge hospital.

The efforts are a part of an effort called “In This Together”, a program dedicated to raising awareness, supporting businesses, and more. It was launched on March 30th and all of the info can be found by following this link.
