#3. 12/27/18 – Bogdan Bogdanovic vs. Lakers

This one felt good.

We are getting into the territory of arguable decisions. Many of you have a favorite buzzer-beater and it might not be the one that we chose. For many of you, the most satisfying game-winner in recent memory was Bogdan Bogdanovic’s dagger against the Lakers on December 27th, 2018.

It was a late Christmas present. The teams came into the games with nearly identical records and were looking to end the calendar year on a high note. For the Kings, a victory over the “rival” Lakers would have been the perfect stamp on a surprisingly successful first two months of the season and a great way to ring in 2019. The hatred between the fan bases still exists (though to a lesser extent), and Laker fans often pack Golden 1 Center when their team comes to town.

This night was no different. With yellow shirts and jerseys dotting the crowd, Bogdanovic made sure everyone in attendance got their money’s worth. With the Kings down by two and less than five seconds on the clock, he got Tyson Chandler caught in a mismatch and took the inbounds pass from Nemanja Bjelica. After taking two dribbles to his right, Bogdanovic ended up on the right-wing and took a step back three-pointer from 26 feet away just over Chandler’s fingertips.

Kings announcer Grant Napear, who is known for his excitement in big moments, nearly blew a gasket with his call of Bogdanovic’s name. While this buzzer-beater might not be more wild or skillful than some of the others, it receives this high rank simply for being against the Lakers.
