Top 10 Buzzer-Beaters In Sacramento Kings History
#1. 12/29/10 – Tyreke Evans vs. Memphis
Okay, you knew it was coming.
You’ve seen the shot 100+ times, and it flashes across every Kings highlight reel of the last decade (albeit there aren’t many). It has widely been regarded as the most exciting play in Sacramento Kings’ history, at least of the regular season. It has been number one on our lists before, and it will likely be the final play you see on any Kings-related YouTube countdown videos.
We didn’t even really want to do it. We tried our best to convince ourselves that Martin’s layup was number one, or find a way to make Bjelica’s bomb the best of the bunch. But there is just no denying the timeless greatness of Tyreke Evan’s half-court heave. To this day, it remains tied for the third-longest buzzer-beater in NBA history.
Not only is the shot incredible, but the sequence is as well. The Grizzlies hit a miracle shot to take a one-point lead with less than two seconds remaining. DeMarcus Cousins thinks the game is over but then regains his composure to make the inbounds pass. Reporter guy walks on to the court too early. Evans has a little bobble with the ball and barely gets it off, from behind half-court, before the buzzer sounds. Donte Greene jumps off the bench and knows the ball is going in from the moment it leaves Evan’s fingertips.
Swish. Madness inside ARCO. You can’t deny its greatness.
