#2. Passing On Luka

What more can be made of this decision? The Kings have been dragged through the mud and back again for their inexplicable selection of Marvin Bagley over Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA Draft, and they should be.

Doncic has taken the NBA by storm in his first two seasons by averaging gaudy numbers and collecting triple-doubles regularly. He is one of the most invaluable assets in the league, and is the main reason why his Dallas Mavericks found themselves in comfortable playoff position in the mighty Western Conference when the NBA began its hiatus. He was an early season candidate for MVP.

Doncic would have put the Sacramento Kings on the map. A team and city in desperate need of a franchise player with the ability to turn around their long-standing misfortunes and do it all within a two-year span. Kings fans would finally be able to stop complaining about the lack of national coverage regarding their team, and instead be blessed with nightly SportsCenter highlights from Golden 1 Center.

Doncic would have given the Kings sure-fire hope for the future, fit with De’Aaron Fox be damned. At worst, Sacramento would have had to make a difficult decision regarding which franchise centerpiece to keep and build around, and received assets for the other.

But hey. We have Marvin Bagley!
