#2. Read Slamson’s Crazy Biography On Wikipedia

Although it sits at just a brief 107 words, the official Wikipedia entry of the beloved Kings mascot, Slamson, manages to contain enough insane details to get you through the next eighteen months. Distressingly, it looks like the Kings may have stolen Slamson away from his family under the guise of providing help for his poor family in South Africa. Even worse, it reveals that Slamson currently lives behind the bleachers in Golden 1 Center. You’d think after 20-plus years of loyal service, the Kings could pay for a loft or something (at the very least, a suite at The Kimpton). This seems like extremely poor treatment for the only son of Slamet and Sir Slam the Lion (his mother and father, respectively).

Now, before anybody starts petitioning Vivek and Vlade to reverse this injustice, it should be noted that Wikipedia points out that no sources for any of this are cited. Also, Slamson’s official NBA page tells a completely different tale, claiming he was picked up by the Kings after being found taking a nap under a tree in Capitol Park. It is a much less interesting story, although it makes it sound like Slamson cut some sort of deal to avoid a loitering citation.

Are the Kings hiding something here? Although I have my suspicions, both stories are completely unsourced, so it seems like we’ll never know for sure, so you will have to use your best judgment on this one.
