There may not be a new Kings game for awhile. While holed up in your house, check out these five pieces of media from Kings past.
The NBA season is on hiatus for the foreseeable future. There are no Sacramento Kings games on the horizon, and their playoff push has been put on extended hold. At the moment, things are very bleak with no respite in sight.
In these uncertain times, there are only so many ways to satiate a Kings fan’s craving for content. Thus, this is an attempt by one individual writer to give you the fix you need during this indefinite hiatus from new basketball. As it turns out, there are a lot of silly and retro things to check out from Kings history that will hopefully at least put a smile on your face.
Below are five Kings-related things you can read, watch, and listen to to get you through the Kings hiatus. Use them as you may. Also, wash your hands and stay inside.
#1. Watch A Classic Kings Game On YouTube
Since there won’t be any new Kings games for you to watch, it seems only logical to back into the archive and relive some of the many memorable games in their thirty-five-year history, some of which they even won. As it turns out, there are a lot of classic games from Sacramento Kings history uploaded onto YouTube, often in full, some even taped off of the local broadcast (i.e. vintage Grant & Jerry commentary).
Honestly, an official list of recommendations could probably warrant its own article, but if you had to pick just one, why not relive perhaps the most important win the Kings ever secured? Go relive Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers, played on May 27th, 2002. If you’re a younger or newer Kings fan who never got to see it live, or an older fan who wants to relive the memory, it’s a great one, and the closest to a championship the Kings ever got. It’s a great, competitive game that ends with one of the greatest clutch shots in franchise history. You’ll get goosebumps just thinking about it.
