6 NCAA Games For Sacramento Kings Fans To Watch This Weekend
The Sacramento Kings are in a tight playoff race, but there are still prospects to watch and be scouted. Here are some games to catch this weekend.
Whether or not the Sacramento Kings qualify for the playoffs this season, they will likely be making their selection somewhere in the 12-18 range of the 2020 NBA Draft. They also own three second round picks, which will make for some interesting NCAA basketball games down the stretch for those watching for scouting purposes.
While the stocks really rise and drop during March Madness and the NCAA Tournament, there is a handful of games this weekend that Kings fans should be paying attention to:
Villanova(14) @ Georgetown – Saturday, 9 AM PT
After playing Seton Hall on Wednesday in a game that could go far in determining the regular season champion of the Big East, Villanova will meet the Hoyas of Georgetown on Saturday morning in the final game of conference play. Nova will likely be a heavy favorite, but it is their leading scorer who we will be tuning in to see.
Saddiq Bey has found himself steadily rising up mock draft and big boards throughout the season thanks to his outstanding three-point shooting and 3-and-D potential. He will be able to end the regular season with an exclamation point against one of the worst defensive teams in the country before making his mark on the NCAA Tournament in a couple of weeks.
Auburn(17) @ Tennessee – Saturday, 9 AM PT
While Sacramento likely won’t be in a position high enough to draft Isaac Okoro, he is worth a watch should he somehow slide down the draft boards or should the Kings move up somehow.
Okoro is arguably the best small forward/wing prospect in this year’s draft and plays for an Auburn team that will look to do some damage in the tournament. He is a consistent scorer who would fit well behind Harrison Barnes, but don’t count on him being available when Sacramento makes their pick.
Kentucky(6) @ Florida – Saturday, 10 AM PT
This SEC battle features at least three draft prospects between the two schools. Tyrese Maxey is the only one who is projected to be a lottery pick, and the Kings are unlikely to use that kind of draft capital on a six-foot three-inch shooting guard.
Where they are more likely to take an undersized wing is in the later portions of the second round when Scottie Lewis of Florida could be available. He is lengthy and lives above the rim, but could be too close to a Justin James-type to be considered by Sacramento. But they could take a flier on big man Nick Richards depending on their off season plans for their current front court rotation.
