March 11th vs. Pelicans & March 22nd @ Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are the team that most think will come out of the pack and secure the 8th seed, and the number guys over at FiveThirtyEight have shown their agreement by placing their postseason likelihood at a whopping 73 percent. The debut of Zion Williamson has begun to turn the tides on their season, and a team that was once 6-22 is now very likely to make the playoffs. The NBA is crazy.

Sacramento has an excellent opportunity to play spoiler while also helping its own cause.

On March 11th, the Kings will play host to the Pelicans in what promises to be an entertaining contest. Not only is it a marquee matchup based on the standings, but it is also the only time this season that the Kings will appear on national television. ESPN will be handling the broadcasting duties that evening.

The Kings will double up their chances against the predicted team to beat with yet another matchup with the Pelicans, this time in New Orleans eleven days later on March 22nd. The absolute worst that Sacramento can do if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive is to split the two games. While gaining two games on the Pelicans would do wonders in the playoff push, a split wouldn’t necessarily knock them out of it.
