#5. Will Kyle Guy Get Any Playing Time?

Before the trade deadline earlier this month, there was minor speculation that the Kings could move one of their backup point guards in Cory Joseph or Yogi Ferrell. A trade including Bogdan Bogdanovic would have freed up some minutes. But Sacramento stood pat on any changes to its backcourt, which ultimately affected any potential playing time for Kyle Guy this season.

Guy has spent much of the season with the Kings’ G-League affiliate in Stockton where he averages 20.3 points per game on 37 percent from beyond the arc. He has scored 37+ points on two different occasions this year. He has been available on the Kings’ bench for a handful of games, though he has barely seen any game action. In two appearances, he has logged two minutes, and his first NBA basket remains his only.

Though Guy is currently buried on the Kings depth chart, there are things that can happen that would allow him to see the court for some solid minutes.

Should Fox, Joseph, or Ferrell run in to any injury issues down the stretch, Sacramento would likely call Guy up as an extra body at the very least. The Kings often go three-deep in their point guard rotation, so he could get some run in that situation. The Kings might also be in a position near the end of the year to give some of their starters some rest, considering the lost season. If Fox or Hield takes a night off, we could see a steady dose of Guy during the last week of the NBA season.
