#3, Harrison Barnes’ Stamina

As we mentioned in a previous article, Harrison Barnes needs this All-Star break more than any other King, and maybe more than any other NBA player.

He had a crazy offseason that included 3 different trips to Asia with a stop in Australia in between. He was playing basketball on two of those trips both for Team USA and the Sacramento Kings. He has played in every game this season, and leads the Kings in minutes per game. While it doesn’t always show on the court, we can assume that Barnes is gassed.

He will have 5 or 6 days off to clear his mind and rest his body before returning to Sacramento to take on Memphis on Thursday. Hopefully he is able to spend most of his time on the bed or the couch or in the ice bath.

Keep an eye on his stamina and overall health as the Kings make their way towards the end of the season. Sacramento is not exactly deep at the wing positions, so any kind of fatigue to Barnes could result in an increase in minutes for either Kent Bazemore or Justin James, or both. (Something else to keep an eye on.)

Barnes is invited to participate in the Team USA tryouts for the 2020 Olympics, but you’d be hard pressed to find a sensible Kings fan who would be upset with him for laying low this summer.
