The Sacramento Kings will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves for the second time in seven days tonight at Golden 1 Center.

When these two teams played last week, the Sacramento Kings completed one of the biggest comebacks in NBA history when they erased a 14-point deficit in under 100 seconds to force overtime. Sacramento would win the final frame and the game, avenging their December 26th double-overtime loss in Minnesota.

While we predicted that these two teams would be on similar ground throughout the season, we thought they’d be battling for the 8th seed. Instead, they are a combined 16 games behind the final playoff spot. Things are particularly bad for the Timberwolves, who are just 5-25 in their last 30 games.

Players To Watch:

Tonight will be the final game for the Kings before the trade deadline, meaning that it will be the last time that the Kings are able to show off their assets should they hope to be sellers. While recent reports have pegged Dewayne Dedmon and Bogdan Bogdanovic as the players who are most likely to be dealt, Dedmon’s status for this game is unknown.

Minnesota’s Robert Covington is one of the names that is rumored to be on the trade market, and Sacramento could certainly have an interest in him. But the Wolves are reportedly deep in talks with Golden State regarding the availability of D’Angelo Russell, who might command Covington in return. Still, the wing is worth keeping an eye on.
