The Sacramento Kings win round one against the Golden State Warriors. But this win was more about how bad the Warriors have been this year.
After coming off an inflating loss to the New York Knicks, the Sacramento Kings took their talents to the Bay Area where they would face off against the Golden State Warriors for the first time this season.
Even though the Kings came out with the 100-79 victory, they did not play a good game overall as the team was sloppy which resulted in a whopping 27 turnovers for them. Luckily, the purple and white were facing the Warriors.
Different Version Of GS
Oh, how the tables have turned. The Warriors may have upgraded their arena, but their roster has been the opposite of that. With Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson still out with injuries, the Warriors have been atrocious all season and last night’s performance was not any better. For the game, the team scored just 79 points, shot 39% from the floor, and committed 20 turnovers of their own. As a result, the Kings were able to survive the countless mistakes they made and still win by a comfortable margin.
Even though the Kings did not play well overall, there were some good notes to take away from the match. The team did shoot well from the floor as they made around 60% of their total shots and 46% of their three-pointers. Also, Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic went off for the team as they combined for 44 points and nine assists while shooting 17-22 from the floor and 6-10 from the perimeter.
Final Thoughts
It was great to see the Kings beat the Warriors and get back to the 7th seed in the Western Conference. But this game was more about how bad the Warriors have been this year than how “well” the Kings played.
The next game for Sacramento will be against the Charlotte Hornets. Even though the Hornets are another inferior team, based on their record, the Kings will need to play better than they did last night. Committing 27 turnovers against the Hornets will not get them the win this time.
