Sacramento Kings: Player Analysis Through First 6 Games
By Gurjus Singh
Six games have been played by the Sacramento Kings in the 2019-20 season, and it is time to look at the pros and cons of the team’s top three players.
When I mean the top three players, I mean the guys that are part of the core for the Sacramento Kings. These players are De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, and Harrison Barnes.
Let us start with the team’s starting point guard.
De’Aaron Fox’s Pros
In six games, De’Aaron has averaged around 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds a game. One strength that stands out is his perimeter shooting. Yes, he is making just 33% of his baskets, but he is not hesitating when he is put in an opportunity to take the shot.
Fox is at his best when he uses his speed to get anywhere on the court which can result in easy baskets in the paint area. The video clip below will show exactly what I am talking about. Overall, Fox’s offense has been solid as he can score in a variety of ways and be a playmaker as well.
Cons
The downside to De’Aaron’s season has been ball security. For the year, he is averaging around four turnovers a game which is high. He needs to get better in this category for the team to improve and breakthrough their disastrous start. Fox needs to also improve his free-throw shooting as that remains to be a struggle. It would be wonderful if he could get his clip up to around 80% this season.
As on the defensive side of the ball, he needs to get better. He has shown flashes of what kind of defender he can be but needs to be more consistent against the elite guards in the game. His performance against Damian Lillard last week is a prime example.
