Vlade Divac needs to make a tough decision. If he chooses wrongly, then he must step down from being the Sacramento Kings’ General Manager.

Vlade Divac‘s tenure as the Sacramento Kings‘ General Manager has been on a rocky start this season. He has had some great moves in the past, and some bad ones as well. The great moves that stand out are trading for Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic, drafting De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III, and signing Richaun Holmes.

The bad moves by him were drafting Georgios Papagiannis, the notorious trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, and firing Dave Joerger. Inclusive moves that fans should not judge yet are trading and re-signing Harrison Barnes and the veterans he acquired this summer.

Vlade’s Promise

Vlade said back in 2017, when he made the DeMarcus Cousins trade, that if the Kings were not a better team in the next two years then he would step down from his position. The two years ended last February, where the Kings were inches away from competing in the playoffs. Looking forward to this season, the Kings are 1-5 and have been playing bad basketball.

What Vlade Needs To Do

This leads to the question of whether it is time for Vlade to step down? The answer is dependent on a decision on what Vlade thinks is right. This involves a step in firing Luke Walton. If Vlade deicides to fire him, then he must find a replacement based on factors such as a coach that can develop youth, teach defense, and give players confidence in their games.

If Vlade does not decide to fire Luke, then it is time for him to step down. Vlade also needs to reflect on the coaching process, which was not as extensive as fans would have wanted it to be. The fact that he hired Luke without having an interview with other candidates was irresponsible of him. I believe that for him to keep his job, he needs to make a change at head coach.

Let us all hope that the Vladfather can salvage the season.
