With every game that Richaun Holmes proves his worth to the Sacramento Kings, the chances of Harry Giles becoming a contributor become slimmer.

The path that Sacramento Kings big man Harry Giles has walked thus far in his basketball career has been a rocky one, and the beginning of the 2019-’20 season has been no different.

Just a couple of weeks before the start of the regular season, news broke that Giles was dealing with a knee issue and would be unavailable for the duration of the preseason. The news was vague. Reports were mixed and it wasn’t clear exactly what he was suffering from. There was no timetable for return.

Most Kings fans saw it as a precaution, a way to keep a promising player with a long history of medical issues from any unnecessary strain and contact. Giles missed his entire rookie season, rehabbing knees that had endured multiple injuries and surgeries. He played in just 58 games for the Kings last season and averaged 14 minutes per.

When the regular season rolled around last week, a timetable still had not been provided. Giles would miss the first five games, a stretch in which Sacramento was in need of able-bodied big men.

This week, videos have surfaced of Giles working in full-speed practices and drills, and reports state that his return may be imminent. But has he lost his potential spot in the Kings rotation?

Richaun Holmes has been outperforming all of Sacramento’s other frontcourt players, and coach Luke Walton might have some difficulty finding minutes for Giles.

So what does Harry Giles need to do to secure himself some playing time?
