The Sacramento Kings have started the 2019-20 season confused and unprepared. Where has Vlade Divac been through all of this?

So far, the Sacramento Kings‘ season has been a catastrophe, and Vlade Divac himself has not made any statements about the team or coaching. How long can Vlade remain silent with the team’s subpar performances?  If the train wreck continues, at some point the front office will have to provide answers.

How will the Kings address the problems? What is the short-term plan? What is the long-term plan if the Kings cannot turn the ship around? With the fifth game on the schedule completed, Sacramento is at or near the bottom in most categories. This was supposed to be the season of hope after witnessing a major jump in talent and wins last year. It has been nothing near that.

Leaders Need To Reassure Fans Soon

The fans are stunned, leaving them not knowing what to think. This is why the general manager needs to make a statement. Enough with Luke Walton giving basic answers, the fans want specifics. With the whole season at stake, the public needs to know what is going on. There is still time to fix the problems and save the season. It just needs to happen soon.

Divac knows the heart of his team. He is aware of what is going on at practice, in the locker room, and on the road. Is the new system hard to grasp for his team? Are Walton and his coaching staff all on the same page? Vlade could join the coach for a postgame question-and-answer session to let the fans know the inconsistent play is being addressed with more than just a casual “embarrassing”  and “we will work on it” comments from Walton.

Winning Solves All Wounds

If Sacramento comes out with more lackluster performances, it will only ratchet up all the talk about Walton not being a better coach than Dave Joerger.  We found out this year that Walton was the coach Divac had envisioned all along but was not available. With better play, the Nuggets game gave everyone a little breathing room. Sacramento did not have to win the game although it would have been nice. They just needed to show they can play hard and compete against other NBA teams.

Can The Kings Consistently Play Hard?

The truth is at 0-5, other teams are looking at Sacramento as a team they can beat. Depending on which Kings team shows up will determine if the purple and white get their first win.

With time to practice on the homestand, the Kings must work on cleaning up their execution on both sides of the ball. A win would help the morale of the team and the fans. Sacramento must put together a streak of great games so Divac can avoid the speech on why the Kings are 1-11 in the first dozen contests.

The power rankings correctly put the Kings dead last. The schedule was going to be a challenge even if the squad was playing great as the next few games are mostly against teams that are projected to make the playoffs.

The Kings need to dial in and bring the same energy they did last year. Play hard and good luck!
