Sacramento Kings: 3 Predictions On Cory Joseph’s Season
Cory will rarely be a primary ball-handler
The Kings have the deepest roster that they have had in this 13-year playoff drought, and it is not particularly close. The Kings do not have any obvious holes at any position coming into the year. Joseph should see most of his time with the bench unit of Bogdan Bogdanovic, Trevor Ariza, Nemanja Bjelica, and Richaun Holmes.
Joseph, next to Bogdanovic, is one of the best bench backcourts in the NBA. In his two years with the Kings, Bogdanovic has shown himself to be very adept at orchestrating the offense. Mix that with Joseph’s ability on defense and you can overwhelm most other team’s bench units.
Bogdanovic and center Holmes have already shown great chemistry in the pick and roll during the preseason.
In addition to Bogdanovic being the better shooter than Joseph, he is also better off the dribble as well. However, Bogdanovic did end up struggling a bit last year when he was leaned on too heavily in units without Fox and Hield, so Joseph should help take some of the offensive load off him.
Although Joseph probably is not worth $12 million, I envision him playing an important role on this Kings team.
