Sacramento Kings: 3 Three Predictions for Marvin Bagley
By Ryan Ritter
With the Sacramento Kings’ big man poised to have a breakout season, here are three predictions for Marvin Bagley III’s sophomore year. Some good, one not so good.
The Sacramento Kings are entering the 2019-20 campaign with expectations of contending in the NBA postseason. A mindset that has been absent from the franchise in quite some time. A major reason why the Kings are optimistic this year is due to their group of young talents.
Last season, the Kings surprised the NBA world with their ability to play fast led by their youngsters. Most of the group was able to take great strides in their games last year, and one of those players was their prized rookie in Marvin Bagley III.
It’s a little hard to believe now, but back in the 2018 NBA Draft, Marvin Bagley was a somewhat controversial selection for the Sacramento Kings at number two. Many fans (including this writer) believed the Kings should have gone with Luka Doncic or, at the very least, traded down a pick or two and acquired additional assets along with Bagley.
However, Vlade Divac and the Kings went with their gut, and so far, it appears as if it’s paying off. Although Bagley flew a bit under the radar when compared to possible superstars in the making like Doncic and Trae Young, he put together an excellent rookie season. Now, he’s poised to make a big leap going into his sophomore year.
How big of a leap? Hopefully, quite a bit! And will there still be holes in his game that will need to be addressed? You bet! What follows are my three predictions for Marvin Bagley in the 2019-2020 season.
