Sacramento Kings: 3 Steps For Bogdan Bogdanovic To Break Out
By John Kelly
Step #3: Bogi Needs To Lead The Second Unit
Last year, the bench for Sacramento was a question mark. There were definitely nights where they played flat and disorganized which often led to the team ending the game with a loss. This time around, the bench needs to go all out, push the ball and run, and then run some more. With the tough landscape in the Western Conference, Sacramento’s second unit has to play at a high level every night, and it starts with the play of Bogdanovic.
Bogdan was the undisputed leader for the Kings’ second unit last year. The Kings’ gameplan was to blister the hardwood by running the opposition out of the gym at all times. Last year, it did not work out all the time, but the purple and white now have a deep enough roster to make that happen. With the goal of players subbing in and seeing no drop in production.
Bogi must embrace the role to lead the second unit. With his basketball IQ, along with his impressive skillset and versatility, he is capable of becoming a candidate for this season’s Sixth Man of the Year. Building camaraderie with his basketball brothers will be big for the second unit to cement chemistry and surpass what is expected from them.
Will we see that happen? They have to in order for them to achieve their playoff aspirations.
