With Kyle Kuzma out indefinitely for the Los Angeles Lakers, how does that impact the Sacramento Kings’ season?
As training camp is around the corner for NBA teams, at least one team will enter it shorthanded. Not too long ago, it was reported that Kyle Kuzma, forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, has suffered a foot injury that will have him sidelined indefinitely. According to multiple reports, there seems to be a stress reaction in the left foot.
So with one of the Lakers’ top scorers out for an unspecific amount of time, how does this affect the Sacramento Kings and their chances of making the playoffs this regular season?
How Kuzma’s Injury Impacts Sacramento
The absence of Kuzma makes the Lakers more vulnerable for sure. The possibility that the Lakers will struggle during the beginning stages of the season now increase which is great for the Kings considering Los Angeles is one of the teams that will probably be a shoo-in for the playoffs.
The Kings do play against the Lakers in Los Angeles in the middle of November. That game will most likely be the only one Kuzma sits out in terms of head-to-head matchups against the Kings.
If Kuzma is still sidelined with his injury when that game comes along, that is an advantage for Sacramento which could be a good opportunity for them to take a game away from the Lakers this year. Based on some reports, however, Kuzma could return to action around October.
Final Thoughts
The injury for Kyle Kuzma hinders the Lakers for sure. But it seems like he will only be out for a short period. But there is the possibility that he could miss time at the beginning of the regular season which is a plus for the Kings and other teams that are competing in the tough Western Conference.
