Player #2: Kyle Guy

When the Kings drafted Kyle Guy with the 55th pick in this year’s draft, many expected him to play mostly with the Stockton Kings, Kings’ G-League affiliate team, this season. But after having an overachieving summer league with the team, Guy has a solid chance of making the team’s opening-day roster.

Even though Guy’s main position is shooting guard, I foresee him being another player that Ulis has to beat out to make the roster. At the shooting guard spot, the depth chart looks to be Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic as the first and second-string players at the position. The third spot is pretty much open for grabs.

If Ulis can beat out the players who are gunning for that third-string shooting guard spot, he could make the roster. The Kings would not even have to put Ulis at two-guard, but rather move Yogi Ferrell to that slot which would make Ulis the third-string point guard on the team. Due to Ferrell being a score-first guard, the transition to two-guard would be easy for him.

But Kyle Guy will not make this easy for Ulis. If the former Virginia Cavalier can showcase his effective perimeter shooting and decision making, as he did during the summer, then he has a great chance of joining the Kings to begin the campaign.
