Sacramento Kings: 3 Ways For Harry Giles To Break Out
By Rafe Wong
Goal #3: Make The Main Rotation Of Players
Going into the new season, I have Harry as the backup center to Dewayne Dedmon. I could also see him getting some minutes playing power forward, but most of his time will come at the five.
Another goal for Harry this season should be earning good minutes at both the four and five positions, and even vying for a starting spot. But right now, he should strive to be the first big man called upon when either Dedmon or Marvin Bagley III go on the bench and should at least earn 25 minutes per contest. With his combination of athleticism and skill set, Giles can play both big man positions, but he needs to show the production to earn those minutes.
For the last two years, it has been understandable that Harry’s development has been slow. But after enduring multiple knee injuries and adapting to the strength and speed of the NBA, this is the season for him to take off.
The time is now for the Kings to fully unleash Giles and see whether he can become one of the players they build around for the future. Everyone in the Kings community is cheering for Giles to be good and will be ecstatic this season if he becomes the guy they envision him being.
