Sacramento Kings: Team USA Earns 7th Place With Win Against Poland
By Rafe Wong
With the help of Sacramento Kings’ forward Harrison Barnes, Team USA was able to win their last match of the FIBA World Cup tournament.
As the FIBA World Cup comes to an end, the United States was able to win their last game of the tournament as they defeated Poland by a score of 87-74. With the win, it earns Team USA seventh place to finish their World Cup campaign.
Throughout the World Cup, the United States has relied on Sacramento Kings’ starter Harrison Barnes for assistance at the forward position. In his latest game versus Poland, Barnes was able to record 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists for the night. Barnes, however, did not have a great night shooting the ball as he made just 33% of his shots from the court and 25% of his shots from the three-point line.
USA Disappointing, But Not Harrison
Entering the World Cup, the United States was one of the heavy favorites to win it all. Unfortunately, for their program, that was not the case as they greatly underachieved finishing the tournament in seventh place.
Although most basketball fans did not think Team USA was a shoo-in for the gold, like they have in the previous tournament, seeing them finish seventh is quite a shocker.
What was not a shocker, however, was how Harrison Banresn played as he was a solid asset for the US in all eight games that he plated in. In that span, he averaged around 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists a contest.
Although Barnes will not be bringing a medal back to the states, he did make the Kings organization proud and will be entering training camp healthy.
