Power Forward – Marvin Bagley III 2018-2019

14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist per game

The youngest member of the All-Decade Team is at the power forward spot, though he technically played more than half of his time at center. But simply for the sake of not having to include Zach Randolph, we have Marvin Bagley’s rookie campaign during the 2018-19 season at our PF spot.

The season was a rollercoaster for Bagley. He was average at first, scoring under 13 points per game over the first four months of the season. He then suffered an injury in mid-December that caused him to miss eleven games in a crucial development phase.

Bagley flipped a switch upon his return. Around the time of All-Star break in February, he scored 25+ in three out of five games, including a 28 point, 14 rebound performance against the Warriors. His scoring average over the final three months of the season rose to 17.7 per game despite seeing a decrease in minutes.

The Sacramento Kings have a player in De’Aaron Fox who most are predicting to become a star in the NBA, but the same people also say that Bagley has the highest ceiling of any player on Sacramento’s roster. He will continue to develop this season with teammates that better compliment his skill set and could potentially end up being the best draft pick in what promises to be a loaded class.

When we make our next All-Decade Team in 2029, if Marvin Bagley is not the power forward that we choose, he will almost certainly be highly considered for the spot.
