Sacramento Kings: Bogdan Bogdanovic Leads Serbia Past USA
By Rafe Wong
In the recent matchup between Serbia and the United States in the FIBA World Cup, Bogdan Bogdanovic was the star of the show.
Most expected the United States to play against Serbia in this year’s FIBA World Cup, but most probably did not assume the two would be playing for fifth place of the tournament. Anyway, that was the case today as the Serbians came out with the win by a score of 94-89.
What made this game special for Sacramento Kings fans is that three players from their franchise were present in the game. For the USA, Harrison Barnes was on the roster as Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nemanja Bjelica were representing Serbia.
Sacramento Kings Light It Up
Overall, the Kings represented their organization well in this match. For the game, Barnes finished with 22 points and five rebounds, Bjelica scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds, and Bogdanovic recorded 28 points, six assists, and four rebounds.
No doubt that Bogi was the player of the game as he was the main reason why Serbia was able to squeeze by with the win. This win has to be huge for the Serbians, despite what the stakes were, due to the country losing to Team USA in multiple championship games in the past.
Final Thoughts
Overall, today’s game between Team USA and Serbia was a success for the Sacramento Kings. All three players from the franchise played well, especially Bogi, and no one on the squad suffered an injury.
The FIBA World Cup still is not over as both countries will play one last game. The United States will play against Poland while Serbia will be matched up against the Czech Republic.
