Hasan Minhaj’s Connection To The Sacramento Kings

Hasan Minhaj is currently one of the bigger names in comedy, and he shares a special connection with the Kings and the city of Sacramento

On the latest edition of Patriot Act of Netflix, Hasan Minhaj shared a policy change that involved a former Sacramento Kings player and current front office member:

In this special, Minhaj uses a Vlade Divac’s reference as an example of cruise policies on the audience’s ticket. He tells them that upon purchasing a ticket for the show that they had “agreed to name their next child Vlade Divac.”

Who is Hasan Minhaj and why does he like the Kings?

Hasan Minhaj is a comedian who has participated in discussions on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah and former anchor John Stewart. He has a family is of Indian-Muslim descent originally from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has the Kings connection having been born in Davis, California, and later attending UC Davis. He is now married to Beena Patel, who also attended UC Davis.

Hasan has mentioned the Kings and the NBA numerous times in videos that he has produced throughout his comedy career:

Before starting Special Patriot Act, Minhaj was interviewed by Netflix and mentioned the Sacramento Kings:

He also made a special appearance at a Kings game last season, sitting with owner Vivek Ranadive and getting interviewed postgame, expressing his hatred for the Lakers:

During the game, he referred to Vivek as his Indian “Uncle”.

Hasan Minhaj has also expressed his dislike for the Lakers when he read an audience’s member’s question on the Patriot Act and in reaction he ripped the index card apart:

Hasan has also been on Jerry Seinfield’s show on Netflix where he mentioned the Kings as his favorite team.

It is great to see a native of the Sacramento area, gaining ground in America’s comedian spotlight and talking about real-world issues.
