Another member of the Kings’ bench is playing for Serbia in power forward Nemanja Bjelica. Bogdanovic and Bjelica have an extensive history as teammates, having played together for Fenerbahce Ulker of the EuroLeague in ’14/’15. They have also played together on the Serbian National Team for many years. They were teammates on the 2014 FIBA World Cup team, as well as the 2016 Olympic team that finished with the silver medal.

Bjelica had a monster game against Greece as well, finishing with 18 points and 14 rebounds. His ability to rebound is criminally underrated, having grabbed double-digit rebounds in 11 games last season for Sacramento. Bjelica’s numbers may have been inflated given the absence of fellow big man Jokic, but the solid numbers are a good sign moving forward.

Bjelica will be one of the more intriguing Kings players to keep an eye on. His presence and solid play will be of utmost importance for a Kings’ team that boasts big men with potential and plenty of youth. He will have to remain fresh, ready to be a spark plug any time that Sacramento needs him this season.

Serbia will play in the opening game of the tournament against Angola on August 31st.
