Important Takeaways From The Sacramento Kings’ 2019-20 Schedule
By Gurjus Singh
On August 12, 2019, the Sacramento Kings released their 2019-20 regular-season schedule and it is time to break down each part of that schedule.
With the Sacramento Kings on the quest to breaking their 13-year postseason drought, they will now know who, when, and where they will be playing in the upcoming regular season. Now that the public knows the Kings’ schedule, let us break down some key parts to it.
Notes To Takeaway From Sacramento’s Schedule
- The Kings will begin their campaign in Phoenix, Arizona as they play against the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are not considered a playoff-caliber team, so hopefully, the Kings start their season on a high note.
- After their season opener, the Kings play their home opener against a much tougher opponent in the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers are considered a team that could take a playoff spot away from the Kings, so games against them are significant.
- With the Kings and Golden State Warriors being in the same division, they will play each other four times this season. Those games are scheduled on December 15, January 6, February 25, and April 15 (regular-season finale).
- Another important series is when the Kings play against their rival Los Angeles Lakers. Those game are planned to be played on November 15, February 1, April 4, and April 14.
- The two times the Kings play against the defending champion Toronto Raptors are on November 6 and March 8. They will also be playing against the Milwaukee Bucks two times in which they are scheduled to play the Eastern powerhouse on January 10 and February 10.
- The Kings will also meet James Harden and the Houston Rockets a total of three times which are planned to be played on December 9, December 23, and March 19.
- The revamped Los Angeles Clippers are another team that the Kings will have to play four times this campaign. Those games are scheduled on December 31, January 30, February 22, and April 2.
- The Kings will have five back-to-back games.
- The Kings’ only nationally-televised game will be against Zion Williamson and the exciting New Orleans Pelicans on March 11 at the Golden 1 Center.
Fans & Players Voice Dissatisfaction
After the Kings surprised the NBA with their massive improvement, compared to previous years, it seemed like they would receive more nationally-televised games for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and the players and fanbase for the team are not pleased with it.

Final Thoughts
One could say it was disrespectful that the Kings only received one nationally-televised game this upcoming season. But they can use that as motivation and hunger in their mission to make the playoffs. For Sacramento, it is now playoffs or bust for them.
Kings fans should be optimistic going into the upcoming season. With the level of competition increasing in the West, it will be a good test for the purple and white to see where they stand against their counterparts!
