Admittedly, predicting the Sacramento Kings will make the playoffs hardly qualifies as bold, but it is when you peg them for a top-five seed.

Yes, you read that right: The Sacramento Kings will be a fifth seed or better in the 2019-20 playoffs.

How does that qualify as “very bold”? Well, it means the Sacramento Kings will have to best at least four of the San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, Portland Trailblazers, Los Angeles Clippers Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets. Not an easy task.

Of course, with one of the youngest teams in the NBA coming off a stellar, 39-win season it’s not hard to envision them being this year’s Denver Nuggets, who just missed the playoffs last season before storming up to the second seed this year.

Now, I’m not saying the Sacramento Kings will finish as a top-two seed, but I’m not, not saying it. Either way, the Sacramento Kings are in a good position to shock the NBA world this season, and taking a top-five spot away from a number of contenders would certainly qualify.
