Marvin Bagley III’s Focus Is On The Sacramento Kings’ Season
By Rafe Wong
Based on recent actions by Marvin Bagley III, it seems like the rookie is putting all his focus on the Sacramento Kings’ upcoming season.
The Sacramento Kings have been represented well during Team USA’s training camp in prep for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
The purple and white had three players in Marvin Bagley III, Harrison Barnes, and De’Aaron Fox that all had good chances to make the team’s 12-man roster and compete in China.
But not too long ago, it was reported that Bagley withdrew his name from the USA’s current 15-man squad. According to Marc Stein, NBA Insider, the reason behind Marvin’s action was due to him primarily focusing on the upcoming 2019-20 NBA season with the Kings.
Final Thoughts
There could be other reasons why Bagley withdrew from Team USA’s roster. It could be that he was not going to get much playing time with the team going forward? Maybe he wanted to avoid an injury that would negatively affect his sophomore season? But the main focus, based on the reports, says he wants to dial in for the upcoming NBA season.
For Bagley, he had himself a promising rookie year as he averaged around 15 points and eight rebounds while making over 50% of his baskets from the court. Going into his second year, he wants to capitalize on that and continue to surprise the NBA world with his talent.
If Bagley can make another leap of improvement, it will be huge for the Kings. How effective the interior will be for the purple and white is still up in the air. But if they can count on Bagley to be a better player, it will play a huge part on whether Sacramento can finally break their 13-year postseason drought next year.
