Center: Dewayne Dedmon
Out of all the big men on the Sacramento Kings’ current roster, Dewayne Dedmon makes the most sense as the team’s starting center.
It was a long journey for Dedmon, but he seems to have found his niche in the NBA. A big man that can rebound the ball and protect the rim effectively is the type of player that the Kings need as their starting center. Also, in the last two years, Dedmon has developed a decent perimeter shot which gives the Kings the ability to space the floor more when on offense.
Dedmon is not going to be a powerhouse player for the Kings, but instead, he will be expected to do the little things that help make a team a contender which is all that the Kings need from their starting center.
For the last four seasons, the Kings were invested in making Willie Cauley-Stein as their center for the future. Unfortunately, that project did not work out for both parties as Cauley-Stein opted to join the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming season.
This left the Kings with a hole at the center spot, but on the first day of free agency, Vlade Divac filled the void by signing Dewayne Dedmon to a three-year deal worth around $40 million.
Based on his skill set and track record for the past three years, Dewayne seems to be a better option for the Kings going forward.
