Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox Gets Promotion With Team USA
By Rafe Wong
With the FIBA World Cup beginning this month, Sacramento Kings’ De’Aaron Fox has a good chance of representing his country in the event.
The NBA is in its dead part of the year but basketball is still going on. Right now, Team USA is starting up their training camp in preparation for the FIBA World Cup that begins at the end of August.
For the USA, they have two squads attending camp, the actual Team USA roster and the team’s select team which is the group that practices with the first team. Entering camp, a few players from the Sacramento Kings were in attendance.
Harrison Barnes was dressed up for Team USA’s roster while De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III were on the select team. But it seems like someone in the purple and white received a promotion.
Fox Gets His Chance
According to Chris Haynes, NBA Insider for Yahoo Sports, the young point guard received a promotion to join the actual national roster with a high chance to represent the USA in the World Cup.
Final Thoughts
If everything goes right for De’Aaron, the Sacramento Kings could have two players representing the USA in the upcoming World Cup. For the Kings, that would be an extraordinary honor due to the USA being the favorites to win the tournament.
Especially for Fox, being part of the national team would be huge. With this possible experience, it would solidify him as one of the rising stars in the leauge.
After having a great sophomore season, De’Aaron is already one of the few young point guards that are on the rise to become an All-Star in the upcoming years. Hopefully, that trend continues in the upcoming NBA season.
