The Houston Rockets and former Sacramento Kings’ first-round pick Ben McLemore have agreed on a contract that will have the guard in Houston for two years

It took awhile, but Sacramento Kings’ former guard Ben McLemore has found a new home in his NBA journey. Reported by various sources, McLemore has agreed on a two-year deal with the Houston Rockets.

For McLemore, it was unknown whether he would find a job with an NBA team this upcoming season. The six-year guard has experienced major consistency issues throughout his career with both the Kings and Memphis Grizzlies.

Can this be the time he turns his career around?

Remembering Ben

Since the Kings have started over from scratch, Vlade Divac and company have been fortunate to land some pretty talented players with their draft picks.

Before Divac took over the reigns as the franchise’s Vice President of Basketball Operations, finding gems in the draft was a rarity for the Kings. Usually, when the Kings would make a pick high in the draft, that player would most likely underachieve or just become a flat out bust.

One of the players that fit this bill was Ben McLemore, a shooting guard that the Kings selected with the seventh pick in the 2013 draft. When the Kings selected McLemore, the expectation was for him to become an elite spot-up shooter in his prime.

But unfortunately, Ben experienced inconsistency throughout his Kings tenure which resulted in the team to lose faith in him. In the summer of 2017, the Kings decided to move on from McLemore which resulted in him to take his talents to the Grizzlies.

In the summer of 2018, however, the Kings gave McLemore another chance to thrive with their team but ended up not materializing into anything special.

Hopefully, Ben’s tenure with the Rockets is his best yet. Although he may not be a King anymore, lots of fans are still rooting for Ben due his high character as a person and great work ethic.
