Good Coaches Utilize Players Strength/Improve Their Deficiencies

In the last 15 years, the only great coach that the Kings had was Rick Adelman. He was a master of taking the players he was given on the roster and coming up with a system that would have his personnel thrive under it. A great example was Brad Miller who had his best years with Adelman and the Kings as he made the All-Star game two years in a row.

This is not to say Miller was an average player, but rather it just shows how great Adelman was in bringing out the best in him and other players. Without Adelman, Miller would not have been an All-Star. Walton must copy this formula as the Kings will never be a destination that will attract superstars.

The good news is that Sacramento currently has a talented group of young players that can help the team for the long haul. It will be Walton’s now job to create a system where all of the Kings’ youngsters can thrive together.
