Not too long ago, former Sacramento Kings’ big man Kosta Koufos agreed on a contract that will have him playing in Europe during the next basketball season.
Going into this year’s NBA offseason, the Sacramento Kings did not have the motive to bring back 11-year center Kosta Koufos to the organization. And that notion was proven early in the free-agency period when the purple and white brought in guys like Dewayne Dedmon and Richaun Holmes to their squad.
It was interesting to see whether another NBA team would give Koufos a chance for the 2019-20 season. Finally, after a few weeks of free agency have passed, the veteran big decided to take his talents to Europe.
To be specific, Koufos’ next basketball chapter will begin with CSKA Moscow as he signed a two-year deal worth around $6 million. According to various reports, Koufos will now be the highest-paid player in Euroleague that was born in America.
Final Thoughts
It has been over four years since the Kings and Koufos agreed on a contract worth around $33 million in four years. During that time, Kosta has been nothing short of a consummate professional as he did a solid job in playing his role in the interior and being a mentor towards the youth of the franchise.
During his four-year tenure, 262 games, Kosta averaged around six points, six rebounds, and almost one block per contest. He also was able to make almost 54% of his shots from the court.
Good luck on your next journey, Kosta! And Kings fans appreciate the work you put in while repping the purple and white!
