Why The Kings Will Fall Short

Last year, the Sacramento Kings were one of the biggest surprises last year due to how competitive they were against top-tier opponents and their electric offense. As a result, they finished with a record of 39-43 and were just one spot shy of making the postseason.

Even though I think the Kings were able to strengthen their roster this summer, they still have ways to go before they break their playoff drought. It seems like the deadline on whether a team in the West makes the playoffs or not is going to be 48 wins, and I just do not think the Kings are there at this point in their rebuild.

Most of how the Kings will perform this upcoming season will depend on how their young talent improves. The team is building around guys like De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III, Harry Giles, and Bogdan Bogdanovic who the franchise believes is their future

If the reality happens that all five of them make another leap of improvement this next season, it will astronomically increase their playoff chances. Add that with their role players living up to their contracts, and maybe the Kings will achieve their ultimate goal after all?
