Takeaway #3: The Kings Trust Their Youth

It is pretty obvious, but the Kings’ rebuild will not become anything special unless the youth on their team turn into great players, and some into NBA stars. Vlade Divac understood this, and as a result, every decision he made towards the player personnel was made to help the youngsters grow.

I mentioned in a previous slide that the Kings’ free-agency pickups were made to enhance the defense of the team collectively. Well, those moves were also made to help surround the Kings’ youth with consummate professionals and veteran players.

With the exception of Richaun Holmes, each player that Vlade signed this summer has been in the league for at least six years and have experienced what it is like to play for a successful organization. Hopefully, this season, those veterans can help mentor the Kings’ youth and teach them the ways on how to lead a team to success.
