Sacramento Kings: 3 Takeaways From The 2019 NBA Offseason

Takeaway #2: Team Drafted For Talent
The Kings had three second-round picks going into the 2019 NBA Draft, and Vlade Divac used all of them on guys that pure positions were shooting guard.
At the 40th pick, the Kings went with Justin James, the bonafide scorer from the University of Wyoming. He then used the 55th pick on Kyle Guy, the sharpshooter from the recent champions Virginia Cavaliers. And finally, Divac used the 60th pick on Vanja Marinković, the young prospect from Serbia.
Right now, the shooting guard position is pretty much stacked as the Kings currently have Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic in the top two spots on the depth chart. When making the selections, Divac was not worried about fit, but rather which players he thought would have good futures in the NBA.
The verdict is still out whether the draft picks Sacramento made will turn into quality assets for the team later on, but there is no denying that Divac went after what he thought were the best players available when he was on the clock. Hopefully, he is able to strike on at least one of them.
