Three free agents the Sacramento Kings should look at
Jonathon Simmons isn’t a needle-moving player, but he’s an impactful player coming off a season that saw him average 6.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Jonathon Simmons is nearly the opposite of Sindarius Thornwell in the sense that he’s a player who could easily play 15-20 minutes a night and contribute to a winning team.
Last season, Simmons not only averaged 13.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per-36 minutes, but he also shot 42.9% for three and played nearly 15 minutes per game for Philadelphia 76ers. Overall, he averaged 19 minutes per game between the 76ers and Orlando Magic, who he started the season with.
His ability as a passer and scorer could be a huge plus for a Sacramento Kings team that relies heavily on ball-movement and speed on offense. Even more so if they’re able to add him on a veterans minimum contract.
He’s categorized as a shooting guard, but he’s 6’-6” and could play small forward in a pinch. Should Harrison Barnes miss anytime due to rest or another reason or if Trevor Ariza doesn’t work out, having a player like Simmons could be the thing that saves a season.
