Three free agents the Sacramento Kings should look at
Sindarius Thornwell was cut by the Los Angeles Clippers, but he could be a solid grab for a team looking for a defensive-minded reserve guard.
During A Royal Pain’s annual pre-draft work scouting players and their fit with the Sacramento Kings In 2017, Sindarius Thornwell became a favorite target of mine thanks to his tenacious defense and leadership.
After two years and 137 games with the Los Angeles Clippers, Thornwell’s defensive ability and high-energy play garnered him a decent sized role in his rookie season. His second year saw his offensive game fail to develop, which led to his release.
The Sacramento Kings wouldn’t need him to shoulder any scoring load, and could use him in a similar vein as the Clippers did — deploying him as a situational defender and high-energy reserve when needed.
Thornwell wouldn’t play a large role for the Kings, but as an end-of-the-bench piece, there’s worse players you could target. Thornwell is a useful player, and for a team that has historically struggled defensively he could be a major-boon.
