Power Forward: Nemanja Bjelica

Nemanja Bjelica had an up-and-down first season in Sacramento. He was a huge part of the Kings’ early success, averaging over 15 points over his first nine games while shooting an exceptional 55% from the three-point line. His scoring numbers decreased when his minutes did and even received some DNPs (Did Not Play) down the stretch. Bjelica had his fate delivered to him as the Kings’ frontcourt suddenly became a deep rotation.

He fits well in the Kings’ rotation because of his ability to stretch the floor, but the deceptively big Bjelica can also pull down his fair share of rebounds. He averaged just shy of six rebounds per game, putting up double-digit boards in 11 games, including a 17-rebound performance against Phoenix late in the season.

If Bjelica can have a similar amount of production this coming season, the Kings should be thrilled. As is the case with Ariza, there is no pressure to have big nights though both are a threat to do so.

Bjelica was a starter for 70 games last season, but that should not have to be the case this year. He will back up Marvin Bagley III at the power forward spot, but could play with the starters should they need another hot hand down the stretch of certain contests.
