Sacramento Kings: How Much Will We See Of Kyle Guy Next Season?
Amidst an impressive showing at both the California Classic and Vegas Summer League, the Sacramento Kings sign Kyle Guy to a two-way contract.
The rookie guard was selected with the 55th overall pick in the draft on June 20th and is already making an impression on a suddenly deep Sacramento Kings team. Kyle Guy averaged 12 points in three California Classic contests while shooting over 40% from three-point range. He then dropped 21 in his Vegas Summer League debut against the Chinese National Team.
How Much Playing Time Will Guy Have In The NBA?
Guy will spend a majority of next season with the Kings’ G-League affiliate in Stockton, but is allowed to spend up to 45 days in Sacramento should they need him on the roster.
Last season, one of the Kings’ two-way players was able to make a noticeable impact while in the big leagues. Troy Williams played in 21 contests and averaged 5.3 points per in 15 minutes of play.
Granted, Williams had more opportunities than Kyle Guy will have. The Kings were notably thin on the wings last season and dealt with an early injury to Bogdan Bogdanovic, clearing the way for Williams to get playing time.
As for Guy, the Kings’ backcourt is deep, even after the release of Frank Mason III this past week. He will struggle to see very many NBA minutes unless there is are multiple injuries or inactive in the regular rotation.
Kyle Guy led his Virginia team to the NCAA Championship just this past April and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. He was a third-team All-American as well as 2x First-Team All-ACC. He was named Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2016.
