Kyle Guy Leads Sacramento Kings In Summer League Opener
By Rafe Wong
The Sacramento Kings were able to win their Las Vegas summer league opener against China. And a big part of that win was because of the play of Kyle Guy.
The Sacramento Kings had a so-so California Classic as they finished with a record of 1-2. But they have the chance now to redeem themselves as they are in Las Vegas now to play in the NBA Summer League tournament.
It has only been one game so far for the purple and white, but they looked great in their first game as they defeated China by a score of 94-77, putting the Kings at a record of 1-0 to start the tournament.
Pretty much from the beginning, the Kings had China’s number as they outplayed them on both ends of the court.
Top performers from China were Ailun Guo who scored 20 points and dished out five assists and Yanyuhang Ding who scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Top performers for the Kings were Wenyen Gabriel who recorded 15 points and grabbed six rebounds and Kyle Guy who scored 21 points and recorded five assists. Speaking of Kyle Guy, let us examine his performance and impact on the Kings tonight.
Analyzing Guy’s Night
Kyle Guy was incredible in his Las Vegas debut and was the main reason why the Kings came out of the game victorious. Not only was he able to shoot the ball well, but he constantly made smart decisions with and without the ball in his hands throughout the night.
Throughout this last week, Guy has been an asset for the Kings on the court. When the Kings entered the draft last month with three second-round picks, Vlade Divac needed to at least hit on one of those selections to make the draft a success.
It is still very early, but if Guy can continue to remain an asset and get better at his game, he would be that player in this year’s draft that can help the Kings going forward.
