Sacramento Kings: De’Aaron Fox Makes The USA’s Select Team
By Rafe Wong
Although he will not be representing the United States of America in the upcoming FIBA World Cup tournament, Sacramento Kings’ guard De’Aaron Fox will be playing with Team USA later this summer.
Every four years, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) host a tournament where the best basketball countries in the world face off against each other to see who is the best. In most years, the United States of America have dominated this tournament and others in the past. And Team USA is again the favorites for this year’s World Cup too.
Whoever gets the honor of representing Team USA this World Cup will likely earn themselves a gold medal. The only Sacramento King who has a chance is Harrison Barnes who was named to join the team’s training camp in August.
But with that said, there will be more Sacramento Kings that will be participating at Team USA’s training camp this summer. A few weeks ago, Marvin Bagley III was called to join the organization’s select team, the squad which helps USA’s first team train. And just recently, De’Aaron Fox received an invite to the training camp as well.
Final Thoughts
No surprise that Fox received an invite from Team USA. Usually, for the select team, they bring in the NBA’s best in terms of young talent. Last season, De’Aaron Fox showed that he was one of the best point guards up and coming due to his ability to lead the Kings to almost breaking their 13-year playoff drought.
In 81 games, he contributed around 17 points, seven assists, and four rebounds a night and made around 46% of his shots from the floor, 37% from the three-point line, and 73% from the free-throw stripe.
Congratulations on the invite, De’Aaron! Hopefully, you are able to show Team USA your true potential!
