Sacramento Kings Are Back On The Nikola Vucevic Train
By Rafe Wong
With free agency coming nearer by the day, the Sacramento Kings seem to have a high interest in acquiring All-Star big man Nikola Vucevic.
The Sacramento Kings are approaching arguably their most important stage of the offseason which is free agency.
For the purple and white to continue making strides in their rebuild, playoffs is a must for the team next season. If not, then they would have made a step backward in their process.
For the Kings to achieve their goals next campaign, they must enhance the talent on their roster this summer. And the best way to do that is through free agency. A lot of rumors have spiraled around the Kings in the last couple of weeks. To name one, in particular, the rumor of the Kings being interested in Nikola Vucevic.
Last season, Vucevic had an All-Star year with the Orlando Magic and is the best center available on the free agent market. For the last few weeks, rumors have swirled around the Kings community stating that the team has been both interested and noninterested in signing Vuvevic to their squad this year.
But after countless back and forth, it does seem like Vlade Divac is interested in signing Vucevic as it was reported by Sam Amick from The Athletic.
What Does This Mean For The Kings?
If the Kings are interested in Vucevic, it probably means they are willing to offer him a max contract or at least close to that. But despite what the cost will be, adding Vucevic to the Kings’ roster definitely upgrades the team.
With Sacramento currently having a hole at the starting center spot, Vucevic can fulfill that role and more due to his ability to score in the interior, space the floor, and rebound the ball.
It will be interesting to see how Vlade Divac handles negotiations with Vuvecic in the upcoming days. Something tells me that the free agency period is going to be a wild ride for the Kings.
